A tempest of wind and rain, raised by the magician Prospero, shipwrecks Alonso, King of Naples and his shipboard companions including Duke Antonio of Milan. Prospero brings them safely ashore. Ferdinand, the King's son, falls for Prospero's daughter Miranda. Alonso repents, and Prospero reveals himself as the rightful Duke of Milan.
