Every child has a story - and every child deserves to see their world celebrated.
This October, Beamafilm joins families, libraries and communities across Australia in celebrating Children's Week 2026 - a wonderful opportunity to recognise children's rights, celebrate cultural diversity and discover the power of storytelling.
While countries around the world celebrate children at different times of the year, the message is universal: every child deserves to be seen, heard, respected and celebrated.
Held annually, Children’s Week is a national celebration inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It’s an opportunity to listen to children, celebrate their achievements and remind ourselves that every child has the right to participate fully in their family, culture and community.
Many cultures. Many languages. Millions of stories.
This year’s Children’s Week theme draws on Article 30 of the UNCRC: Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion. This theme feels particularly at home at Beamafilm.
Stories can be one of the first ways children discover just how big and wonderfully diverse the world is. Through film, young viewers can hear different languages, encounter different traditions and ways of life, and meet characters whose families and communities might look very different from their own.
Just as importantly, children can enjoy seeing their own culture, language, family, and experiences reflected on screen.
Big adventures for little viewers
This Children’s Week, we’re celebrating with a special selection of films for younger viewers on BeamaKids+.
From animation, adventure and laugh-out-loud family entertainment to stories about friendship, identity, community, nature and cultures around the world, there’s plenty to discover.
Great children’s films can entertain us, but they can also spark curiosity, encourage empathy and get families talking. A story enjoyed from the sofa can sometimes be the beginning of a much bigger conversation about who we are — and about the many different ways there are to experience the world.
Celebrate Children’s Week with Beamafilm
So gather the family, choose a favourite viewing spot and let the storytelling begin!
Whether it’s discovering a new culture, hearing another language, embarking on a faraway adventure or simply enjoying a great story together, we hope Children’s Week inspires young viewers everywhere to explore, imagine, celebrate what makes them unique and celebrate each other.
Happy Children’s Week from all of us at Beamafilm!
