Beamafilm is delighted to be attending the Public Libraries Victoria 2026 Conference: Libraries Loud and Proud!
Held just once every three years, the PLV Conference brings together Victoria’s public library community to share ideas, celebrate achievements and look boldly towards the future. This year’s sold-out gathering is centred on the vital role libraries play as champions of equity, knowledge, creativity, connection and democracy.
A particular highlight was the Minister's warm welcome, in which he revealed a delightful personal connection to libraries: before entering politics, he once worked as a library shelver! It was a lovely reminder that libraries shape lives and careers in all sorts of unexpected ways.
The program brings together an inspiring mix of Australian and international voices, including Marie Østergård of Aarhus Public Libraries, Louise Denoon of State Library Queensland and Anna Burkey of Australia Reads, with conversations spanning inclusion, community connection, democracy, technology and the evolving role of the public library.
For Beamafilm, it’s especially rewarding to be among the librarians, library partners and library leaders who work every day to make culture, stories and ideas accessible to their communities.
Here’s to libraries being Loud and Proud - and to the occasional library shelver going on to become a Minister!
