17 Days of WorldPride kick off today and Sydney, Australia is the location for WorldPride 2023 with this year's event also incorporating Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
Sydney WorldPride 2023 represents the first time ever that the event is being staged in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2023 festival also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Australian Gay Pride Week, the 45th anniversary of the first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and the fifth anniversary of Marriage Equality in Australia.
WorldPride is a not-for-profit festival, While the traditional Pride month in the Northern Hemisphere is June, Sydney WorldPride 2023 is being staged Friday 17 February – Sunday 5 March 2023 to coincide with the usual timing of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and of course, the heart of the Australian summer!
