At Beamafilm we are excited to celebrate Media and Information Literacy Week as it is a time to cast a spotlight on the skills required to thrive in our digital-first world. This year's theme “The New Digital Frontiers of Information,” emphasises building critical thinking skills as digital platforms transform how we engage with information. Generative AI and various other tools are reshaping the film industry across various stages of production, from scriptwriting to special effects to distribution. As this reshapes the media landscape in general, viewers face new challenges in distinguishing trustworthy from misleading content. Beamafilm is dedicated to supporting independent filmmaking and to casting a spotlight on the creative skills of those involved. You'll find some of the best indie films showcased on the platform. Our independent filmmaker exclusive interview blog series is filled with unique insights, allowing viewers to step behind the camera and into the minds of those making independent films and the broad range of skills involved. Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 challenges us all to actively shape our online spaces with thoughtful and ethical engagement during this pivotal era of change. Together, we can contribute to a digital world rooted in accuracy, inclusivity, and resilience and to a film industry where independent views and voices can be heard.
