On April 2nd 2011, LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden. “Shut Up And Play the Hits” documents this once in a life time performance, and provides an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after, and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision to break up the band.

Shut Up And Play the Hits

LCD Soundsystem was at the peak of its popularity when Murphy pulled the plug, a decision that surprised many fans. Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace follow him and the band for 48 hours, including the frenzied, kinetic final concert and the “after-the-storm” feeling of the morning after.

Fans of great music, and compelling documentary, will love this film. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012, and has met with huge critical acclaim.
