ABOUT THE FILM

Seven Miles From Sydney And A Thousand Miles From Care

Against the backdrop of the first Gulf war, there was another war fought on the Northern Beaches of Sydney – between The Manly Daily newspaper and an upstart competitor, The Weekender. We follow this newspaper war between 2 local rags, one owned by Murdoch and the other by true locals. But meanwhile, Joe, photographer for The Manly Daily, just wants out. He can’t take this parochial war seriously. He’s trying to get to the Gulf War to shoot some real pictures instead of re-runs of “Dog of the Week”. Who will win this newspaper war? Will Joe make it out of Manly?
